RICK ASHLEY

One of the finest American-born African drummers in New England, Rick lends his percussive leads and fills to the already incredibly rhythmical arrangements.  Having studied West African rhythms intently for many years, as well as working directly with Mamadou Diop to learn the specifics of sabar style and djun-djun playing, Rick commands the only authentic African instruments in this band.   Amazingly enough, Rick is also one of the finest photographers around, having won many, many awards with his visual arts.
